About Judy Cole Jansen

Electrified by God’s Word

Truly, I have been electrified.  When I was just 11 months old, I was crawling on the floor and exploring my world, when I came upon an intruging wire, which was connected to an electric fan.  In the days of my childhood, electrical cords were wrapped in a loosely-woven fabric which tended to fray if it was worn or cut.  My parents, being attentive to such things, had reparied this fray with black electrical tape.  Unfortunately, when electrical tape gets warm, it also becomes gooey and “floppy” so the bare wire was becoming exposed once again.  This made an intriguing little tag for me to explore.   How do babies explore things?  By putting them in their mouths, of course.  As soon as that wire touched the saliva on my lips, 1500 volts fried my whole mouth.  Receiving third degree burns, my whole upper lip was cooked (the other white meat,) my lower lip had a deep burn all the way through the middle, and the left corner of my mouth would never be the same.  It’s a wonder that I lived.  There was very little that anyone could do.  Plastic surgery was attempted in my teen years, but the scars only formed in different ways.  I have been marked for life, but fortunately the scars lighten with age.

As a result, I always looked slightly different from my friends, and beauty was never something that came to people’s minds when they saw me.  Cute, maybe, but not beautiful.  Yet I was able to go on with normal life, and I knew early on that God had saved me for a special reason.

I have a special love for God’s Word, and have been a serious student of the Bible since my days at Biola University.  Years of study in various Women’s Minstries groups have also contributed to a deeper way of applying God’s Word to practical, everyday living.

As time passed and I received more opportunities to teach Bible studies, I became especially interested in the End Times.  The seed was planted by my mother when I was growing up and she would talk about her interest in the end times, but then when I started really studying about Heaven, I found that I couldn’t wait to get there!  When I think about death, I don’t think so much about fear, but about excitement and joy and beauty!  We must all go through our own end times before we can reach heaven, so this is what my blog is really about.
